Terms of Use
Last updated: September 2, 2026
These are the rules for using Play2Play. Related pages: the Privacy Notice, the Refund Policy, and our AI disclosure.
1. Who you are agreeing with
In short: Play2Play is run by one person, not a company. Using it means you accept these terms.
Play2Play is a short-form video app where athletes post highlights, log stats, and get seen by other athletes, fans, and coaches. It is operated by an individual. It is not a company, a corporation, or an LLC, and nothing in these terms should be read as saying otherwise.
These terms cover the website at play2play.co and the Play2Play iOS app. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Play2Play.
You must be at least 13 years old. Most Play2Play users are under 18. If you are under 18, read these terms with a parent or guardian, and involve a parent, guardian, or coach in decisions about training, nutrition, and health.
Questions: email support@play2play.co.
2. Your account
In short: One person, real details, your responsibility. We check your age but we cannot verify it.
- Give us accurate information when you sign up, and keep it accurate.
- Keep your password to yourself. Anything done with your account is treated as done by you.
- Do not impersonate anyone, and do not use someone else’s username or likeness.
- Do not sell, rent, or transfer your account or profile to anyone.
- Do not create accounts automatically, or under false pretences.
Age
We ask for your date of birth when you sign up. The app checks it and our database checks it again. Both read the date you type, and neither can verify it, so entering a false date is a breach of these terms and grounds for removing your account.
We do not keep your full date of birth. We store the year you were born and whether you are 13 to 17 or 18 and over. Our Privacy Notice explains that, and explains exactly what happens if you tell us you are under 13.
Usernames
We can change or reclaim a username that is offensive, impersonates someone, or is otherwise a problem.
3. Play2Play+ membership
In short: The app is free. Play2Play+ is a paid, auto-renewing subscription sold by Apple, and it is available now.
Play2Play is free to download and use. Creating an account, posting videos, logging stats, following other athletes, and sending messages cost nothing. Play2Play+ is a separate paid membership and is not included with your account.
Play2Play+ is available now. It is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through Apple's in-app purchase system in the Play2Play iOS app. If your account was granted Play2Play+ during our free early access period, that grant stands until it ends: you are not being billed for it, nothing renews, and there is nothing for you to cancel. The billing terms below apply to you only if you buy a subscription.
Apple is the seller
Play2Play+ is sold through Apple's in-app purchase system. Apple is the seller and merchant of record, Apple processes your payment, and your subscription is charged to your Apple Account. We never see or hold your payment card details.
Price and billing period
Play2Play+ is offered on a monthly plan, charged every month, and an annual plan, charged every twelve months. The price and the billing period for the plan you choose are shown to you in the app before you confirm, and the price shown at that moment is the price you pay. Apple sets the amount in your local currency and applies any local tax, so the price differs by country.
Automatic renewal
Play2Play+ renews automatically at the end of every billing period, at the then-current price for your plan, and your Apple Account is charged within 24 hours before the period ends. This continues until you cancel. We do not send a separate renewal reminder. Apple emails you a receipt for each charge.
How to cancel, and what happens then
You cancel through Apple, not through us. We cannot cancel an App Store subscription on your behalf, and deleting the app does not cancel it. On your iPhone or iPad: Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, choose Play2Play, tap Cancel Subscription. The same screen is reachable from the app under Settings, Manage subscription.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for, and there are no partial refunds for unused time. Apple requires cancellation at least 24 hours before a period ends for it to apply to that renewal.
When a paid membership ends, you lose access to Play2Play+ features. Your account and everything in it stay put: your profile, videos, posts, comments, stats, followers, and messages are unaffected, and nothing is deleted. You can subscribe again at any time.
Refunds
Apple handles refunds for App Store purchases and we cannot issue one. Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Our Refund Policy explains what we can help with directly.
Free trials, referrals, and gifts
If we offer a free trial or an introductory price, its length and terms are shown in the app before you start. Unless you cancel at least 24 hours before a trial ends, it converts into a paid subscription at the standard price.
We sometimes grant Play2Play+ without a purchase, for example for referring another athlete who joins. A granted membership is not a subscription and not a purchase: nothing is charged, no payment method is attached, it does not auto-renew, and there is nothing to cancel. It runs for a fixed period, shown to you when it is granted, and ends when that period is over. Granted memberships have no cash value and cannot be refunded, transferred, or exchanged.
Price changes and website purchases
We may change the price of Play2Play+. A change never affects a period you have already paid for. Apple notifies you of an increase before it takes effect and, where Apple's rules require it, asks you to agree before renewing.
Play2Play+ is not currently sold on our website.
4. What you post
In short: You keep ownership of your content. You are responsible for it, and there are rules.
"Your content" means everything you put on Play2Play: videos, images, captions, comments, stats, direct messages, your profile, and anything you send us.
You keep ownership of your content. We do not claim it.
What you promise when you post
- It is yours, or you have permission to post it.
- Everyone identifiable in it has agreed to appear. If someone in your video is under 18, that includes their parent or guardian.
- It does not break the rules in section 6.
- The stats you enter are real. Making up stats, or trying to get a false stat verified, is a breach of these terms.
Your content is public
Your profile, posts, videos, and stats can be seen by anyone using Play2Play, and can appear in the feed, on rankings, and in search. Direct messages are not public. Do not post anything you would not want a stranger to see, and be careful with anything that shows where you are.
You are responsible for it
You are responsible for what you post. If someone brings a claim against us because of your content, we can ask you to cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it.
5. Permission you give us to run the app
In short: Only what is needed to show your content in Play2Play and promote the app. Not a licence to sell your face.
To run Play2Play we need your permission to handle your content. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, convert, display, and distribute your content, and to show it to other users through the app and website. That includes the technical copies our video provider makes to stream your video, and the still frames and audio transcript used for the safety checks in section 7.
Using your content to promote Play2Play
We may use your content to show people what Play2Play is: screenshots and video of the app in use, our App Store listing, our website, our own social posts, and demos. In those uses your content appears as part of the app — one clip in a feed, one row in a ranking — because what is being shown is the product, not you. You give us permission to do that, on the same non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free terms as above.
Featuring you as the subject
Making you the subject of a promotion is a different thing, and this licence does not cover it. That means using your name, face, or clip as the focus of an ad, a campaign, a testimonial, a poster, or a paid post about Play2Play. If we want to do that we will ask you first, in writing, and if you are under 18 we will ask your parent or guardian as well. You can say no. Saying no changes nothing else about your account.
If you would rather we did not
Email support@play2play.co and we will stop using your content to promote the app, including the uses above. We cannot pull back material already published — a screenshot already in the App Store listing, a post already up — but we will stop using it going forward and replace it at the next update. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian can make that request for you.
Section 2 asks you to read these terms with a parent or guardian if you are under 18. This is the section where that matters most: it is the part where your content can be seen outside the app, by people who do not use Play2Play.
What this licence is not
- It is not a sale. We do not sell your content, license it to advertisers, or hand it to another company to use in their advertising.
- It is not permanent. It ends for new uses when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies already distributed and anything we are required to keep.
- It does not transfer ownership. Your content stays yours.
- It is not permission to feature you personally in advertising. We ask for that separately, every time.
If you send us an idea or suggestion about Play2Play, we can use it without owing you anything. That applies to feedback about the app, not to your videos, images, or stats.
6. Rules for using Play2Play
In short: The short version: do not post things that hurt people, and do not attack the service.
Do not post or send
- Sexual content, nudity, or anything sexualising a minor.
- Anything that grooms or solicits a minor, tries to move a minor off the app, or asks a minor for personal contact details.
- Threats, harassment, bullying, or targeting a specific person.
- Hate speech or slurs aimed at a group.
- Encouragement of self-harm, suicide, or disordered eating.
- Illegal drugs, banned substances, or anything sold illegally.
- Graphic violence or gore unrelated to sport.
- Content that is not yours, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
- False stats, or fake claims about achievements.
- Spam, scams, or unsolicited advertising.
Do not attack the service
- Do not scrape, harvest, or bulk-collect content, usernames, or email addresses.
- Do not use bots or scripts to post, comment, message, follow, or sign up.
- Do not try to get past our security, rate limits, age checks, or moderation.
- Do not reverse engineer the app, or copy it to build a competing product.
- Do not upload anything designed to break or overload the service.
- Do not file false reports of abuse.
Breaking these rules can cost you the content, the account, or both. See section 9.
7. Automatic moderation, in plain terms
In short: Everything you upload is checked automatically by AI. It can remove your video without a person seeing it first.
Every video and image uploaded to Play2Play is checked automatically. This cannot be turned off, and it runs on every upload, not on a sample.
Still frames from your video are sent to our AI provider, and the spoken audio is turned into text and checked as well. Our Privacy Notice sets out exactly what is sent and what we keep.
What this means for you
- Your video can be removed by an automatic decision, with no person reviewing it first.
- The sound check finishes after your video is already visible, so a video can be pulled minutes after it goes live.
- When something is removed you get a notification.
- The check is not perfect. It misses things, and it sometimes gets it wrong.
- If our AI provider is unreachable, a video goes through unchecked rather than being blocked. We record that it was never checked.
Getting a person to look at it
If your content was removed and you think that was wrong, email support@play2play.co. A person will look at the decision and reply to you. We say the same thing in our Privacy Notice, and we mean it in both places.
What we do not promise
Beyond that automatic check, we do not promise to review everything posted on Play2Play, and we cannot guarantee that everything against the rules gets caught. We can remove content or restrict an account when we believe the rules have been broken.
9. Suspension, bans, and deleting your account
In short: What we can do, what you can do, and what happens to your content.
What we can do
We can remove content, restrict an account, or ban an account, including for breaking these terms. A ban blocks sign-in and hides the account's posts from the feed, search, and rankings. Comments already left by a banned account may stay visible until they are removed. If we believe someone is in danger or a serious crime has been committed, we may report it to the authorities.
If your account is banned, do not create another one under a different name.
What you can do
You can stop using Play2Play at any time. To delete your account, go to Settings and choose Delete account. You do not need to ask us first, though you can email support@play2play.co if you would rather we did it for you.
Deleting your account removes your profile, posts, videos, stats, comments, likes, reposts, follows, direct messages, and notifications. A small number of records survive, and our Privacy Notice lists every one of them and why.
What survives the end of the agreement
Sections 4, 5, 12 and 14 keep working after your account ends, to the extent they need to.
10. Copyright complaints
In short: If someone posted your work, tell us and we will act.
If you believe something on Play2Play infringes a copyright you own or control, email support@play2play.co with "Copyright notice" in the subject line. Play2Play is operated by an individual, and that address reaches them directly.
Include all of this
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A description of the work you say has been infringed.
- A link to the specific post or profile on Play2Play, precise enough for us to find it.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We may pass your notice, including your contact details, to the person who posted the content. If you believe your content was removed by mistake, email the same address and we will look at it again.
Sending a notice you know to be false can make you liable for damages. If you are not sure, talk to a lawyer first.
11. AI features, and why the Coach is not a doctor
In short: AI answers can be wrong. The Coach is not medical advice, and it will not take a medical history.
Play2Play Coach answers questions about training, nutrition, sleep, and recovery. Its answers are generated by AI and can be wrong, out of date, or not right for you. Our AI Disclosure page explains what each AI feature does and where it fails.
The Coach is not a doctor, a physiotherapist, a dietitian, or a coach who can see you. It does not diagnose, and it does not prescribe. Do not use it instead of medical care. If you are injured or in pain, see a professional.
The Coach is instructed never to ask anyone for medications, medical conditions, injury history, current pain, body weight, or life-stage information, and for users under 18 it is also barred from asking about weight or body-composition goals and from recommending weight-loss diets, restriction, or performance supplements. Please do not type health information into it. If you do, it is sent to our AI provider as part of your message.
Training and nutrition carry risk. You are responsible for what you choose to do, and if you are under 18 you should involve a parent, guardian, or qualified coach before acting on anything the Coach says.
12. The app is provided as it is
In short: No guarantees about uptime or perfection, and a limit on what we owe you if something goes wrong.
Play2Play is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise it will always work, that it will be free of errors, that content will always be available, or that anything you post will reach any particular audience. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.
Keep your own copies of anything you care about. If a video or a stat is lost, corrupted, or removed, we are not liable for that loss and we may not be able to restore it.
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for anything connected with Play2Play is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the six months before the claim, or 100 US dollars.
Some places do not allow these limits. Where that is the case they do not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.
Links and content from other companies, including the athletic profile sites we check stats against, are not ours and we are not responsible for them.
13. Terms that apply because the app comes from the App Store
In short: Apple’s required terms for apps distributed through the App Store.
- Your licence to use the app is limited to devices you own or control, in line with the App Store terms of service.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the app and for supporting it. Apple has no obligation to provide support.
- If the app fails to conform to a warranty, you can tell Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price of the app, if any. Beyond that, Apple has no warranty obligation.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claim that the app or your use of it infringes someone’s intellectual property rights.
- You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US embargo or designated by the US government as supporting terrorism, and that you are not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you.
14. Changes, law, and disputes
In short: How these terms change, whose law applies, and how a dispute gets resolved.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The current version is always on this page with the date it was last updated. If a change is significant, we will make it visible in the app. We do not run a mailing list, so we cannot promise to email you about every change. Continuing to use Play2Play after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
If we disagree
Email support@play2play.co first. Most problems are settled that way, and we will try to resolve it with you for at least 30 days before anything formal starts.
If that does not work, a dispute is resolved by binding arbitration under the Commercial Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, including its consumer rules where they apply, in New York. That means a court and a jury are not deciding it. Arbitration is on an individual basis, not as part of a class action.
Either of us can still go to court over intellectual property, or to ask a court to stop something urgently. If any part of this arbitration section cannot be enforced, that part is decided by a court in New York instead.
If you are under 18, the enforceability of an agreement like this against you may be limited where you live. Nothing here is intended to take away a right you have that cannot be given up.
The rest
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. Not enforcing something once does not waive it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms; we may transfer ours if Play2Play changes hands. These terms, with the Privacy Notice, the Refund Policy, and the AI Disclosure, are the whole agreement between us. Nothing in them creates a partnership, employment, or agency relationship.
Electronic communications
You agree that we can communicate with you electronically, and that notices, agreements, and disclosures we provide in the app or by email meet any requirement that they be in writing.
California residents
If a complaint is not resolved, California residents can contact the Complaint Assistance Unit of the Division of Consumer Services of the California Department of Consumer Affairs, 1625 North Market Blvd., Suite N 112, Sacramento, California 95834, or by telephone at (800) 952-5210.
15. Contact
In short: Email support@play2play.co.
For anything at all, including a complaint, a copyright notice, a moderation decision you want a person to look at, or a question about these terms, email support@play2play.co. Play2Play is operated by an individual, and that address reaches them.
8. Messages, blocking, reporting, and rankings
In short: How the social parts work, and what we record when you use them.
Direct messages
A direct message can only be started between two people who follow each other. If you unfollow someone afterwards, a conversation that is already open stays open. Messages are private between the people in the conversation, and are deleted when either person deletes their account.
Blocking
You can block anyone. Blocking hides your posts and comments from them and theirs from you, and stops a direct message conversation being started between you. We record who blocked whom so we can enforce it.
Reporting
You can report a post or a person, and choose a reason. We record the report, who filed it, and the reason. Filing reports in bulk to bury someone is itself a breach of section 6. Reporting is rate limited.
Stats, verification, and rankings
Stats you enter appear on your profile and can appear on rankings. If you have Play2Play+ and link a public athletic profile page, we check submitted stats against that page automatically and mark them approved, rejected, or needing another look. A short explanation written by our AI is shown with a stat that was not approved.
Automatic verification is not guaranteed to be right. We can correct, reject, or remove a stat, and we can remove verification from an account that submits false stats.
