What this covers

Play2Play uses artificial intelligence in three places: (1) Play2Play AI Coach, an in-app chat assistant; (2) automated stat verification, which checks a stat you submit against your linked public athletic profile; and (3) automated moderation of every video you upload, to screen it for safety. This page explains all three: how they work, what information each one sends to our AI providers, and what they can and cannot do. It applies alongside our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. Using Play2Play AI Coach is optional. Stat verification runs only when you submit a stat with a linked profile. Video moderation runs automatically on every upload and cannot be turned off, because it protects a community that includes minors.

Which AI powers Play2Play

All three features are built on Claude, a large language model developed by Anthropic. When a feature runs, the relevant information (described below) is sent to Anthropic, which processes it and returns a result. For video moderation, Cloudflare (via its Workers AI service) additionally generates a written transcript of your video's audio, which is then sent to Anthropic. Anthropic and Cloudflare each process this information as our AI service providers under their own terms and policies. We may change the underlying models or providers over time.

What each AI feature sends and receives

Play2Play AI Coach: the messages you type in the current chat, plus a small amount of profile context (your display name, primary sport, graduation year, account role, and whether you are under 18), are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. The age band is sent so the Coach can apply stricter safety rules to minors without having to ask a child how old they are. Stat verification: when you submit a stat and have linked a public athletic profile, we retrieve the text of that public page and send it, together with your submitted stat and name, to Anthropic to judge whether the stat matches. Video moderation: this is the one that involves your uploaded content directly, so read it carefully. Every video you upload is automatically screened by AI before and after it goes live.

How AI video moderation works

When you upload a video, up to 12 still frames are captured from it and sent as images to Anthropic, which classifies whether the video is allowed. Separately, Cloudflare generates an automated transcript of the spoken audio in your video, and that transcript text is sent to Anthropic to screen the speech. This happens on every upload, including uploads from users who are minors. The frames and transcript are used to detect content that is not allowed (for example sexual content, graphic gore, or unsafe speech directed at minors). There is no human reviewer looking at your frames or transcript before the automated check runs, and the check is not perfect. It can miss things or flag things incorrectly. [LEGAL REVIEW] Whether sending minors' video frames (which may show faces) and audio transcripts to a third-party AI provider requires specific parental consent, and whether any of this constitutes "biometric" data under laws such as the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, is under legal review. We do not claim a conclusion here.

What we keep from moderation

The frames and the transcript themselves are not stored by us. What we do store, for every upload, is a moderation record: the decision (allowed, rejected, or not checked, the last of which is recorded when a check could not be completed), a short written explanation produced by the AI system describing why it reached that decision, and identifiers for the video, the associated post, the sport, and the time of the decision. We keep these records for allowed uploads as well as rejected ones, so that we have a complete moderation history. The written explanation is generated by an automated system and is not currently shown to creators. Content can be removed by this automated process without a person reviewing it first. If your content is removed and you want to know why, or you want a human to review any moderation decision, email support@play2play.co and a person will review it and respond. This is also described in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.

You are talking to AI, not a person (AI Coach)

Play2Play AI Coach is an automated assistant powered by a large language model. Every reply is generated by AI in real time. It is not written, checked, or approved by a human coach, doctor, or Play2Play staff member before you see it. There is no person on the other end of the conversation.

AI Coach responses can be wrong

AI language models can produce information that is inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or misleading, and they can state wrong things confidently (sometimes called "hallucinations"). Play2Play AI Coach may misunderstand your question or give advice that is not right for your body, age, sport, health, or situation. We do not guarantee that any response is accurate, complete, or suitable for you. Always use your own judgment and verify anything important before acting on it.

AI Coach is not professional advice

Play2Play AI Coach provides general educational and motivational information about training, nutrition, sleep, and recovery only. It is not medical, dietary, physical-therapy, mental-health, or professional coaching advice, and it does not create a doctor-patient, dietitian, or other professional relationship. It cannot diagnose, treat, or prescribe. For injuries, pain, illness, medications, eating concerns, mental-health concerns, or a personalized plan, consult a qualified professional such as a physician, registered dietitian, physical therapist, or certified coach.

AI Coach is not for emergencies

Play2Play AI Coach is not an emergency service and cannot help in a crisis. If you have a medical emergency or think you may be in danger, stop using the app and call your local emergency number or contact a qualified professional immediately. Stop exercising and seek care for warning signs such as chest pain, dizziness, fainting, severe shortness of breath, or sharp or worsening pain.

What the AI Coach does NOT receive

Play2Play AI Coach does not receive your email, password, verification or payment details, uploaded videos or your stats. (Your uploaded video frames and audio transcript are sent to AI for moderation, as described above, but that is the moderation system, not the AI Coach chat.) Please do not type sensitive personal information (for example health, financial, or contact details) into the AI Coach chat that you would not want processed by our AI provider.

How your AI data is handled

Play2Play does not save your AI Coach conversations on our servers; the chat history exists only within your current session on your device. Data sent to AI for stat verification and video moderation is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, and the moderation record we keep afterwards is described above and in section 5 of that policy. In all three cases, your input is processed by third-party AI providers (Anthropic, and Cloudflare for transcript generation), so avoid sharing information in the AI Coach chat that you consider confidential, and be aware that the content of any video you upload, including its frames and spoken audio, is processed by AI.

Safety limits

We design these features with safety guardrails: the AI Coach is instructed to keep guidance for minors age-appropriate and conservative, to avoid extreme dieting or unsafe weight loss, to refuse advice on banned substances, and to refer you to a qualified professional for medical, injury, eating, or mental-health concerns; moderation is tuned to screen for content that is unsafe for a community of minors. These safeguards reduce risk but are not perfect and may not catch every situation. Moderation and AI Coach responses are automated and are not reviewed by a human before they take effect.

Use by minors

Play2Play is used by high-school athletes, so many users are minors. Play2Play AI Coach is designed to give age-appropriate guidance and to encourage involving a parent, guardian, and qualified coach; if you are under 18 you should use it with adult involvement and should not rely on it for training, diet, or health decisions without adult and professional guidance. Separately, if you upload videos, your video frames and audio transcript are sent to third-party AI for moderation regardless of age. [LEGAL REVIEW] The parental-consent requirements for processing minors' uploaded video and audio through third-party AI, and how those interact with our minimum-age and consent practices, are under legal review.

Availability and limits

Play2Play AI Coach has a daily message limit that depends on your account, and it may be slow, temporarily unavailable, or interrupted. We may change, limit, pause, or discontinue any AI feature at any time. Coach responses are capped in length and the assistant may not remember details from earlier or separate conversations.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for how you use information from Play2Play AI Coach. Do not rely on it as your sole source for health, training, or nutrition decisions, and consult a qualified professional before making significant changes, especially if you are injured, ill, under 18, pregnant, or managing a medical condition. By using these features you accept that AI responses may be imperfect and that you use them at your own discretion.

Questions or concerns

If you have questions about how Play2Play uses AI, or want to report a problematic or unsafe AI response or moderation decision, contact us at support@play2play.co. Reporting issues helps us improve these features and their safeguards.
