Copyright and DMCA Policy

Effective date: September 29, 2026

Play2Play hosts videos, images, captions, and comments that users upload. Play2Play LLC respects the rights of copyright and trademark owners and responds to notices of alleged infringement that comply with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. section 512. This page is the full procedure. The Terms of Use, section 10, carry the short version.

Sports highlights often include music, broadcast footage, and league, school, or brand marks that you do not own. You must have the rights to post what you post. A lawful takedown can happen even if you filmed the play yourself, because the music or the broadcast in it belongs to someone else.

Our designated agent

Send copyright notices and counter-notices to our designated agent, registered with the U.S. Copyright Office:

Play2Play LLC
Attn: DMCA Agent
c/o Northwest Registered Agent LLC
418 Broadway STE N
Albany, New York 12207
United States

Telephone: (347) 541-9871. Email: dmca@play2play.co. Copyright Office designation number DMCA-1081250. That address reaches Play2Play LLC, and a person reads it. Trademark notices go to the same place with "Trademark notice" in the subject line.

What a copyright notice must include

Under 17 U.S.C. section 512(c)(3), a notice must include all of the following. A notice missing any of them may not be acted on, and we will tell you what is missing:

  • The physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.
  • Identification of the copyrighted work you say has been infringed. If one notice covers several works on Play2Play, a representative list of them.
  • Identification of the material you say is infringing or is the subject of infringing activity, with a link to the specific post, video, or profile on Play2Play, precise enough for us to find it.
  • Your name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material in the way complained of is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  • A statement that the information in the notice is accurate, and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or are authorised to act on behalf of the owner of an exclusive right that is allegedly infringed.

What we do with a complete notice

  • We remove or disable access to the material identified in the notice, promptly.
  • We notify the user who posted it, and we may pass them a copy of your notice, including your contact details.
  • We record the notice against the account that posted the content, for the repeat-infringer count described below.
  • We do not decide who is right. We follow the statute.

Counter-notification

If your content was removed because of a notice and you believe the removal was a mistake or a misidentification, you may send a counter-notification to the same agent. Under 17 U.S.C. section 512(g)(3) it must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before it was removed.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  • Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Play2Play LLC may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who provided the original notice or their agent.

When we receive a complete counter-notification we forward it to the person who sent the original notice. If that person does not tell us within ten business days that they have filed a court action seeking to restrain the alleged infringement, we may restore the material. If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to help you with a counter-notification; it is a sworn legal statement.

False notices

Under 17 U.S.C. section 512(f), anyone who knowingly and materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that it was removed by mistake, can be liable for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. If you are not sure whether a use is infringing, talk to a lawyer before sending a notice.

Repeat infringers

We terminate the accounts of repeat infringers in appropriate circumstances. This applies to copyright and to trademark. In practice:

  • Every notice we accept is recorded against the account that posted the content, with the date, what was removed, and whether the poster disputed it.
  • A notice the poster successfully disputes, and a notice we reject, are not counted against them.
  • An account that accumulates three counted notices is terminated. We may terminate sooner where the infringement is flagrant, for example an account posting nothing but other people’s footage, or one that re-uploads the same removed material after being told.
  • Termination means the account is banned and its content removed from public view.
  • We apply the same count to a new account we identify as belonging to someone we have already terminated.

This is administered by one person by hand. There is no automated system behind it, and there is no counter you can see in the app.

Trademarks

If you believe content on Play2Play infringes a trademark you own, send the same information as for a copyright notice, identifying the mark and, where it is registered, the registration number, to dmca@play2play.co with "Trademark notice" in the subject line. We handle trademark notices under the same repeat-infringer rule. Ordinary use of a school, team, or league name to describe where an athlete plays is not, on its own, something we remove.

Questions

Questions about this policy that are not a notice go to support@play2play.co. Notices and counter-notices go only to the designated agent above.
