Child Safety Policy

Effective date: October 13, 2026

Most Play2Play users are under 18. This page says what we will not tolerate, how to report it, what we do when we find it, and what the law requires of us. It applies to every account, every video, image, caption, comment, profile, and direct message, and to contact that starts on Play2Play and moves somewhere else.

Zero tolerance

The following are prohibited without exception, and an account that does any of them is banned:

  • Posting, sending, requesting, or linking to sexual content involving anyone under 18, including images that are edited, generated, or drawn, and including a minor’s own image sent by that minor.
  • Sexualising a minor in a caption, comment, message, or profile.
  • Grooming: building trust with a minor for a sexual purpose, or normalising sexual contact.
  • Soliciting a minor for sexual content, for a meeting, for personal contact details, or for a move to another app or a private channel.
  • Threatening or blackmailing a minor over images (sextortion).
  • Any attempt to move a minor off Play2Play to avoid these rules.

How to report

  • A post, a profile, a comment, or a direct message: use the report button in the app and choose the reason. It reaches a person. A direct message is reported one message at a time, and the reviewer sees the five messages either side of it.
  • Contact that has moved off Play2Play, or anything you would rather tell a person directly: email safety@play2play.co. Tell us the username, what happened, where, and when. Screenshots help, except that you must not send us an image that is itself sexual content involving a minor; describe it and tell us where it is instead.
  • If a child is in immediate danger: contact your local emergency number first, then tell us.
  • If you are the child involved: you can report it yourself, or a parent, guardian, coach, or teacher can do it for you. You will not be in trouble with us for reporting something that happened to you.

Reports about a minor's safety are read by a person and handled ahead of every other kind of report. A report about a direct message lets us read that message. We do not tell the person you reported who reported them.

What we do when we find it

  • We remove the content and ban the account. A ban under this policy is not appealable through the ordinary route.
  • We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, as 18 U.S.C. section 2258A requires of us. The report includes the account and content details the report needs. Where someone appears to be in danger we also contact law enforcement.
  • We preserve the material and the account records the law requires us to preserve for that report, for the period it requires, and for no other purpose.
  • We do not return the material to the person who reported it, and we do not send it to anyone other than NCMEC and law enforcement.
  • We do not weigh whether apparent abuse material might be acceptable, artistic, or borderline. Our staff do not study such an image to form a view. It is removed and reported.
  • An account banned under this policy cannot come back under a new name. We apply the ban to a new account we identify as the same person.

What is automated and what is not

  • Every video upload is checked automatically before and after it goes live: still frames are screened for sexual content involving a minor among other things, and the spoken audio is transcribed and screened for grooming, sexual solicitation, and attempts to move someone off the app. This runs on every upload from every user.
  • Images and profile pictures are not checked automatically today. They go live and are looked at only if someone reports them. We are adding hash-matching against known abuse material for images; until it is in place, reports are how image content reaches us, and we are saying so rather than implying otherwise.
  • Our database refuses to save text containing any word on a fixed list, in captions, comments, profiles, and messages.
  • In-app reporting covers posts, profiles, comments and direct messages. Everything else is a person reading a report. Our staff are reachable outside business hours for a report under this policy, and a report that suggests a child is in danger is acted on the same day it is read.

Parents and guardians

If you are the parent or guardian of a Play2Play user and you are worried about contact your child has had on Play2Play, email safety@play2play.co. To see, correct, or delete your child's account, email privacy@play2play.co; we will ask you to establish your relationship to the account first. Direct messages on Play2Play can only be started between two accounts that follow each other, and messages between an adult and an under-18 are turned off, based on the birth year each person gave at sign-up. There is no adult verification beyond that birth year, as our Privacy Notice says. Talk to your child about who they follow back.
